I'm blogging! It has been a crazy two weeks for our family. Typing is still slow-going for me, so I'll just touch on the highlights...
*Surgery on my finger (which turned out to be pretty extensive as the doctor found the mass to be very aggressive once he got in there. It destroyed part of my nail bed and had sunk into my bone, leaving a small depression. The pain has been intense and I feel like I'm just now rounding the corner where it is starting to get a little better each day.)
* Two days after surgery I wake up with incredible chest pain and have to go to the ER. This has been something I have struggled with since I had complications with my gallbladder surgery in 2003. This time I also had pancreatitis, so I was in the hospital for 3 days.
* C falls at my brother's house and lands right on his two front teeth (this happened while I was in the hospital and while hubby was on a flight trying to get back home to us) We took him to a dentist and he said not to worry, they posed no threat to his permanent teeth and might move forward again. They are still pushed back and actually I noticed some discoloration yesterday...so we are probably headed back to the dentist in the near future.
* I have to go back in to see my hand surgeon because the pain is so bad. The nurse pulls off the bandage without numbing my hand and I literally start to go into shock. Not even joking. My hands, arms and face were all tingling and my legs just started shaking. It. was. horrible. Doc said it looked just like it should, sent me home with a new pain prescription, and numbed my finger up so well I didn't feel most of my hand for a day and a half.
* We decide that I am not ready to move to MD on our scheduled departure date, so hubby drives the uhaul and his dad drives my car to our new apartment (which is NOT base housing...maybe more on that later.)
* I go back to have my stitches removed. The incision along the underside of my finger is still bleeding a little bit and my finger is still very tender. Also still dealing with all the wonderful side effects that go along with taking narcotics. Decide to push our flight back. Earliest we can leave and get the cheap online deals is Tuesday. So, we settle in for another week at my parents' house (who, by the way, have been so incredibly helpful with this whole ordeal it's insane!)
* Sigh. So, that's it basically. See, you haven't missed much. ;) No pictures until I get settled in MD. Not that I've really been busting out the camera lately. But, I am still looking forward to sharing our Omaha pics.
* C is doing great. He's been a trooper these last few weeks. He is enjoying a sleepover at Grandma and Grandpa's tonight.
* Hubby is also doing well. He recently discovered the amish marketplace and is in love. Really. In love. You should here him talk about it. I asked him tonight how many amish baked goods did he enjoy today and his reply was, "I don't want to talk about it."
I'm going to bed now. I'm tired. And tired of having to go back and fix all the mistakes that typing with only 9 fingers produces.
