Family Photos!

Photo: Today was a BEAUTIFUL day for pictures!
This morning we ventured out for our first photo shoot since growing our family.  I stole this one from our photographer's facebook page.  I can't wait to see the rest of them.  I decided to opt for a more casual/outdoor shoot than going to our old standby JC Penny's.  I thought it might go over better with lil' peanut.  Wouldn't you know he started warming up to her after she'd put her camera away and I was writing her a check.  Ha!  He mostly wanted to run free.  And C suffered through "look at me, look at me" syndrome the whole time.  I don't blame him though.  Our photographer was quite enamored with lil' peanut.  Most people are.  He's tiny and cute and well...Asian.  C was a tiny and cute two year old as well.  And I know a lot of other incredibly adorable toddlers who don't have people pausing to remark on how precious they are.  I honestly think that lil' peanut gets so much attention because he is different.  If he was in a family that looked like him, I don't know that he would be as big of a show stopper.  Don't get me wrong...he IS gorgeous!!!  I absolutely think so.  And I don't mind at all when people stop to tell me that they agree.  My problem is that I also happen to think that my oldest son is gorgeous.  Those bright blue eyes.  That easy grin.  Those cowlicks!  (Hairdressers don't know what to do with them, but I love them.) :)  And when he is standing right next to me while you dote on his little brother...it's a tough spot to be in.  Anyway, today wasn't the first time I have felt like this was a problem.  But, the fact that hubby even remarked on it in the middle of our photo shoot means I need to start deciding how to handle these situations...where one of my children is thrust into the spotlight and one is standing in the shadows.  Because give it a few more years, and I don't think either of them will be happy about it.

Ok, well onto the photo shoot...I do think she got some good ones.  Once she's done editing them we will get a cd and can print/share the images all we want.  So, there will be more to come.  But, before that, I do feel obligated to add a disclaimer.  Just because we may look natural/relaxed/happy in all our photos, 'tis not always the case.  I am really no fun to be around when it comes time for family pictures.  I make them into a much bigger deal than they are.  And while his "whatever" attitude drives me nuts on picture day, I secretly wish I could be more like my husband and not care so much.  You know, treat pictures like...well just pictures.  I can't though.  As soon as it's over I come out of crazy mode and think "Geez, why were you so worked up about that?"  On our drive over I got so irritated when I looked back and saw lil' peanut leisurely sucking on his last fruit snack, smearing his hands and face with pink goo.  (Yes, he's two.  I told you picture day makes me crazy)  I have no patience when C repeatedly sticks out his tongue instead of smiling.  And when lil' peanut decided that after one picture he was done with his super cute vest??  Gah!  I'm fine now.  And my family can relax for another year or so until I feel the need for new family pictures. :)
