Potty School Update

Just in case you were wondering...C is doing awesome!  The day after training was rough.  With about a 50/50 ratio of successes to accidents.  The book had said not to be surprised if your child wakes up the next morning and thinks it was all a big joke.  After all, he had spent 3 years going to the bathroom in a diaper and only half a day learning to go in the potty.  I stuck to the program and we (with me being the only willing participant!) did what we were supposed to do after each accident.  C particularly hated the part where he had to practice getting to the potty.  Well, they say practice makes perfect.  Well, so far in our case, practice makes almost perfect.  C went to potty school 8 days ago and since that first day post-training, he has had only 2 accidents.  He has been dry at naptime every day and has been waking up dry in the morning for the past few days.  We still go with him to the bathroom in case he needs help remembering one of the steps or uh...aiming.  But, other than that he is going on his own...without us having to remind him to go.  Every few hours we hear an announcement similar to this, "My peepee is comin'!"  And off he runs to the bathroom.  We have been out and about...in the car...to the store...at the zoo...and he has done great!  Not that I'm going to stop carrying extra clothes with us anytime soon.  But, I would say that we have got ourselves a big boy now!  And he will be the first to let you know.  Yesterday he told me, "The sun is out Mommy!  The sun is so proud of me I pooped on the potty.  The sun is so proud of me, isn't it Mommy?"  Yes the sun is proud of you.  And so am I! :)
