Zoo Lights

One afternoon last week after picking C up from school we decided to go check out Zoo Lights at our zoo.  It didn't start until 6, so we had some time to kill before we went in.  We had a lot of fun at a nearby park.  We had a picnic and the boys played on the swings (those of you who are fb friends have seen our swing videos, ha!)

We normally get into the zoo for free (thank you Houston Zoo for taking care of the military!) but this is a special event so we spent almost $50 to get in.  Yeesh, I know!  Only the baby was free this time.

And Daddy succumbs to the peer pressure of watching every other kid with a light sword so he thinks his kids need to have them too.  I was fully prepared to sprint past the sword seller's booth, but hubby slowed down when we approached...that's how I knew he was going to cave.  Incidentally, lil' peanut already broke his.

We had to convince C to go through here because he was freaked out about the piranhas. 

We initially only walked through the main section and thought that was it.  We were pretty disappointed with what our $50 had bought us!!  But, then we back tracked and found the other pathways we were supposed to follow.  I still wish you could go in all the buildings and see all the animals, but at least they had more than one area of the zoo open.

Lil' peanut snoozed in the stroller for a bit and then I carried him the rest of the time.  The big boys enjoyed the lights.  I'm not sure if we'll go back next year because C was also pretty disappointed that we didn't see very many animals.  It was still fun and something neat to try.  And just because I was pretty impressed with myself, I'll go ahead and share that I've got a nursing baby under that blanket.  Breastfeeding on the go!  ;)
