Sometimes I look at this boy and can't believe how big he is! Where has the time gone?!? It's so nice to have "a first" for a change...reminds me that his childhood is far from over!
This one I got when I asked for a "soccer pose."What's with the face bud? Is it because your uniform is 4 sizes too big? ;)
I thought for sure our team was going to get crushed. Practices have consisted of a lot of freeze tag and water breaks. I think I mentioned that the coach doesn't have kids, nor does he have any experience with this age group. He just seems irritated most of the time and like he doesn't know what to do with them. I wouldn't want to be in his shoes, though. ;)
They don't officially keep score. But, if anyone was keeping track, which everyone was. We got the win, 3-0. All three goals scored by the same boy on our team. They totally don't grasp the team concept and are always trying to steal the ball from each other. During the half we told C not to run right next to his own teammate if they had the ball, but to head toward the goal and wait for a pass. A pass that, of course, wasn't coming...but super impressed that he actually did that a few times! Not super impressed with the fact that he was a little bully on the field! I don't know if it was the excitement (he has trouble keeping his hands to himself in less hyped up situations!) or if he is really that competitive. But, he was full-on taking kids out! Not cool. The parents on the other team didn't think so. We didn't think so. And I'm pretty sure after hubby practically stormed the field and yelled at C (with the added visual effect of a stern finger pointing) he wasn't thinking it was too cool either. He shaped up pretty well after that.
Taking a turn wearing the special red goalie jersey. He didn't like being the goalie...I think he was bored. Thankfully! I'm so glad his team did a good job of keeping the ball away from our goal because if he cried over a missed goal during practice, you can bet there would've been tears if it happened on game day.
Celebrating!
All tuckered out.
With the exception of his antics early on in the game, I would call it a success! They are all just too cute running around on the field in their uniforms. It was fun to watch. At the beginning of the season we were told all their games would be on Saturdays, but they later decided to do some Friday games as well. Hubby left early Saturday morning so we were very glad C's first game ended up on Friday so his Daddy was able to be there to see him play!
A short clip of my little man in action! I told you, too cute!
