New place, New friends!

This past Wednesday we ventured out to explore the science center.  I had read about a bug exhibit they had there that was in it's final week and thought C would like it.  I mentioned it to a fellow soccer mom I've been chatting with at C's practices and she was interested in joining us.  I texted her that night and told her what time I planned on getting to the museum.  The thought crossed my mind to see if she wanted to ride together (it certainly made sense both coming from the exact same place!) but I chickened out.  "Too soon," I thought.  Her response was "Count us in!  Do you want to drive or me?"  Ha!  Obviously she moves faster than me.  ;)  So, the next morning we set out on our adventure.  It was a really great day (minus the part where I lost my child.  Yes, lost.  For the first time ever.  Let's just say that we will now always enter elevators at the exact. same. time.  And why would a museum for children have elevators that don't open back up when you shove your hand in there?!  I had some serious mommy guilt over pulling my hand out at the last minute and watching the doors shut firmly with my son behind them.  I should've sacrificed my fingers, right?!?  While I was running up stairs and all over the third floor like a crazy person, my wise little five year had gotten off the elevator and was patiently waiting for the rest of us to catch up.  Our friends shoved their way on to the next elevator (packed full of people) up to the third floor and found C waiting right there when they got off.  Oh how my heart did a happy dance when I rounded that corner and saw him standing there.  Happy dance, or panic induced palpitations, which took about a half hour to go away.)  C received a lot of praise for doing the exact right thing in that situation and has since requested that I tell the story of the "old school elevator" (because why do they still have elevators that don't open back up when you shove your hand in there?!?) to anyone I talk to.  So, that was the most exciting part of our day.  Now onto some pictures from the rest of our time at the science center.

Checking out the tarantula in the bug exhibit.

Laying on a bed of nails!

More fun in the dinosaur exhibit.

We had a great time!  These two really hit it off and so did the mamas.  I'm looking forward to this new friendship!!

Why was there a bed of nails in the children's museum? C looks a little concerned in that picture. LOL I would be too.
