The sickies and snow
Lil' peanut has been a pretty miserable little bug the past week. Took him in to the doctor yesterday and he has an ear infection. I hope that antibiotic starts kicking in soon. Nap times and nights have been rough.
There has been a lot of crying, but we've managed to have some fun while being cooped up. He recently discovered the joy of building a track for his trains.
We got snow! Two days in a row. I've had one happy little boy. Yesterday we woke up to snow. After C got home from school I took both boys out. C loved sledding with his friend from down the street. Lil' peanut was having none of staying inside while big brother played, but as soon as we got out he was asking to go back in. The wind was so cold and he did not like it. He wanted me to hold him, so I held him and we watched C sled for about an hour. This afternoon C was thrilled to go sledding while snow was actually falling. Lil' peanut was asleep the whole time today so I lucked out and got to watch C from inside the warm house.
That's two teeth he's missing on the bottom now! It came out while he was brushing them and we didn't get the drain stopped up in time. His little tooth slipped right down the drain. When I wrote the note from the toothfairy I said "I found your tooth in the bay! It was right by the aquarium." The next morning C totally reigned on my parade, "Mom, I want to see my tooth. I know you have it." We need to work on this little one's suspension of disbelief.
We are ready for the weekend!

Truth
There never has been, nor will there ever be, anything quite so special as the love between a mother and a son.

Weekend in Kansas
Last weekend we found ourselves back in Kansas. One of hubby's grandfathers passed away and the funeral was last Thursday. We were all able to make it back for a long weekend. It was our first time travelling as a family of four and I'd call it a success. C has always been my rockstar traveller so I wasn't even worried about him. And lil' peanut did fine on the way there, but had an epic meltdown on our last flight on the way back home. A flight that we were put on because our earlier flight got cancelled. We also happened to be unknowingly put in first class! My first, and probably one time, flying first class and I couldn't even enjoy it. Somebody's kid was screaming bloody murder half the time. ;)
Pictures from our weekend...
Keeping busy eating stickers on the plane.
Hubby just relaxing since he got to sit next to the 6 year old. On every flight!
Watching some Elmo.
Papa took me and the boys to Legoland! It was really fun! They both liked it, but C is really the perfect age for it right now. At one point I wondered who was having more fun, C or Papa. Ha!
This was one of the rides. You could shoot at the little targets and the bad lego guys on the screens to save the princess. C liked it.
Lil' peanut did not. :(
He eventually worked his way out from under the safety bar and into my lap. Poor baby. For about a half hour afterwards he would randomly get upset, cover his eyes and say "scared."
We spent the most time building cars and racing them on these tracks. C loved this!
A little lego building class. He was the only one who went in so he got a private session.
This is a model of the Nelson Art Museum. It's in Kansas City and happens to be where hubby proposed. Right there on the lawn next to the giant badmitton birdie.
Obviously the makers of the model knew that. See! There we are. :)
After Legoland we went to lunch at Fritz's. I think lil' peanut was still a little traumatized from that ride because when the train brought our food out (which I thought he would like) he got hysterical!
Hanging out with cousins.
The Wii kid's dance game was a big hit at Grandma and Grandpa's house.
Waiting to board our final flight home. Sleeping so peacefully. But, I know what's coming. Baby does not like his sleep to be disturbed! No one else in first class liked it either. ;)

Trip to the park
It's been pretty chilly here lately! We don't get outside as much as I wish we did. I hate the cold...and the kiddos always end up with the sniffles. (I'm so excited for southern winters!) These are from a weekend when we did get out and brave the cold. We went to a fairly new park (we've only ever been there once or twice) and the boys really enjoyed themselves. Their favorite part was harassing the geese by the lake. :)
