A boy and his wagon
Lil' peanut was missing from a lot of the group shots I took at the beach. That's because he was a busy little boy while we were there. Busy pulling his wagon. Every time I looked for him, there he was, pulling his wagon. He filled it with toys and sand and drug it into the water, but mostly he just pulled that wagon up and down the beach. So much joy from such a simple thing!
Even during a juice break, his wagon was close by.
Sharing our Beach
Yep, it's already "our" beach. :) These south Texas beaches don't have powdery white sand or crystal blue waters. And when describing them to my in-laws I think I even used the term "dirty beaches" (to make sure they kept their expectations in check). But, when I'm on them my childhood memories sprawl out before me and I am giddy watching my kids on my beaches. I hear lil' peanut laughing as he gets chased back to shore by a wave and I remember "body surfing" with my cousin. Which, when you're ten, just means waiting for a wave to come so you can dive under water and exclaim at how far you surfed when you emerge a tad closer to the shore than you started out. I sit in my beach chair, eyes closed, and I see my grandpa in his chair next to me...lime green swim trunks and pasty white legs. ;) I help C on his hunt for sea shells and think of how many Ziploc baggies I packed full of them and stuffed in my suitcase at the end of another summer visit. The fact that my kids get to play in the sand and splash in the waves on a regular basis just makes me really happy.
When hubby's family came down they wanted to go to the beach and we were happy to take them. We picked C up from school early and played the afternoon away.
The wind was perfect for kite flying.
This child would hardly stick a toe in the pool all summer but he loves playing in the waves!
Still flying his kite. Ha!
We went to a pretty tasty Mexican restaurant with a view of the ocean after the beach. And then this happened on the drive home. (C never falls asleep in the car anymore...that was our big clue he was starting to get sick!)
It was great afternoon spent at our beach. :)
a day at the beach
I've been busy playing nurse lately and haven't had time to blog. We finally got lil' peanut all better and then poor C got the crud. Unfortunately it morphed into an even nastier bug and he has YET to get over it. Poor guy. He is tired of being stuck at home. He was only at school a day and a half after spring break before getting sick. I'm really hoping he makes it back by midweek, but I guess we'll see. I'm just thankful hubby's home for this round of sickies!
These pictures are from the weekend before spring break ended. We didn't get to do as many fun things as we'd planned since lil' peanut was sick all during break, but we loaded up on Saturday and headed to the beach. Lil' peanut was still under the weather and actually said "I'm done" after about an hour and just sat in a beach chair snuggled up in a towel. :( Sad little guy, but it was good for C to get out and have an adventure.
I'm going to try to get caught up on here (and get my whole family healthy!) before my big sister comes to see me this weekend!!!
