Whirlwind weekend

Our weekend in Texas
aka "an insane amount of pictures"

Headed south for my cousin Timothy's wedding!
Catching up with family at the rehearsal dinner.
 Sweet baby Kingston
At the Sea Center with the whole crew.

My handsome date for the wedding.
It's B!  She hasn't made an appearance in awhile.  It was so much fun to watch these two together on this trip.  They are finally both at ages where they enjoy playing together.

Aww.  My dad actually thought to snap a few pictures of us while we were dancing (or my mom told him to do it.)  Of course, he doesn't know how to work the zoom!  Ha!  Still, I'm thankful to have a snapshot of this sweet memory...and that woman's arm.
He waited so patiently with his dollar to dance with the bride!
Customary 'goofy cousin pic!'

We all mentioned several times throughout the weekend how surreal it is for all of us to sit around watching our kids playing!
The day after the wedding we all made a trip out to the beach.  It was awesome!!!  During our beach trip this summer C wanted nothing to do with the water.  I thought he was scared of it.  But, now I'm thinking it might have been the fact that the water was so cold.  You couldn't put your feet in for more than a few minutes without them starting to get numb!  The water in the gulf was still warm, in October.  Man, I love the south.  And C happily ran in and out of it like it was no big deal.
Probably the cutest thing on the beach...
 ...Morgan!
The search for a crab begins...

Uncle J takes up the torch...
 and calls in reinforcements!

My poor brother.  He so badly wanted to find a crab for C.  No such luck though.
We had an evening flight home so C and I spent the afternoon at the downtown aquarium in Houston.

I told him to give me his best owl man face.  (Yes, owl man is real.  He lives in Batman's world.  He's a villain.  At least that's what C tells me.  And he is the expert on all things Batman)

Making good use of our flight's delay.
C and I had a great time down south!  I love it when my extended family has the chance to get together.
And congratulations to the newlyweds!

Dutch Wonderland

A few weekends ago, a friend suggested a trip to Dutch Wonderland.  In an effort to squeeze one more drop of summer out of this year, we loaded our kiddos up for a road trip to Lancaster, PA.

We made it!  All sunscreened up and ready to get inside the park.
(Notice the spiderman toy in hand.  A valuable lesson was learned this day about leaving our toys in the car if we want to keep them safe)
 The dutch wonderland mascot.
At least C is enjoying himself while waiting in line.
Remember that lesson I mentioned earlier?  Spiderman only lasted until we went through the gift shop on our way into the park.  C's grief lasted all day.  Even now when he wants to take a toy with him somewhere I say, "Do you think it'd be safer if we left it in the car?  I'd hate for you to lose it."  Then he slowly sets the toy inside his car seat and looks up at me with sad eyes, "Remember when I lost my spiderman toy?"  :*(
Don't ask me why they both chose to be girls in this picture.

Putting guns on the ends of the airplanes...Great idea.  Making them immovable so your kid has no choice but to aim it directly at the child in front of them...Brilliant.  Seriously?

All three of them worn out and ready to head home.  Of course, C was the only child to stay awake for the full 2 hour drive back.  Quietly watching his movie with the exception of complaining whenever sleeping Kaylee's head managed to land on his arm.

Camping Trip 2010

I tried, unsuccessfully, to get hubby to write this post.  I thought he could do a better job describing the trip.  But, I guess all you really need to know is that C came home with the biggest smile on his face!!!  He loved it.  (And so did hubby) :)

Helping with the firewood.
Getting the tent all set up.

Oreos and late-night movies...what camping trips are made of.
Ready for fishing.

I'm told that C spent his time playing with all the worms while Daddy held onto the fishing pole.

Very content to just sit and play with his worm collection!
A little night time exploring.

C had a lot of fun throwing the worms into the water. "This worm wants to go back to his habitat." This meltdown occurred when he realized he had thrown his last nightcrawler overboard.  Thankfully Daddy saved the day when he discovered that the worm he currently had on the hook was still alive.  Crisis averted.

Exploring a cave.
Daddy wore him out!  He crashed on the way home.

Oh, yes he did.

So, our plane pulls up to the gate and I get C out of his seat.  We are waiting patiently for the doors to open so the line of people can start moving off the plane.  It's 11 at night.  People are tired.  People are still.  People are quiet.  Really, really quiet.  "Um, mom?  Do you ever poop on a person?"
