Water Fun

My folks set up a sprinkler and a little kiddie pool out back and the kids loved it.  Two days in a row they played all afternoon and into the evening in the water.  Both nights at dinner we let them eat by themselves on the patio and they thought that was the coolest thing.

KS visit!

Well, we are back from KS and it's time for me to get going on my mile long to-do list.  I have a lot I want to accomplish before I leave for Korea.  It's pretty ambitious, so we'll see how much gets done. ;)  Catching up on blog posts is definitely a priority.  Haha!  Here are some pictures from our first full day in KS.

Bonding with his littlest cousin.  I wish you could see her other hand.  Boy, she had a death grip on his shirt.  Our lil' peanut is not much bigger than my niece so I imagine we'll have some of this going on at our house soon.

We were great buddies last time I was in town back in January.  Sadly she has that whole stranger anxiety thing going on these days so it took her a day or two to warm up again.  Thankfully I was there for almost two weeks so we had plenty of time to become friends!  She is too cute, don't you think?!

The car was on loan from Brianna while we were in town, and C loved it!

C and Brianna played like long lost best friends that first day.  And only that first day. ;)  After that they had more of a brother/sister love/hate relationship.

EP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Our lil' peanut has emigration permission!  Yay!  Yesterday I was downstairs at my folks' house and my phone rang.  It was set to vibrate so I'm lucky I heard it going off!  I immediately knew who it was because after last time I added a name to go with that number so my heart jumped when I saw it was J calling me.  Our conversation went pretty much like the last time she called me.  "Hi, is this Rachel?"  "Yes!"  "Hi Rachel it's J from CHSFS."  "Hi J!"  (Yes, I am crying)  Then she told me that our son's EP had been approved and that I should be getting my travel call in 1-3 weeks!  "So, the next time I hear from you I will be able to bring him home?!?"  I know she already told me that, but I just wanted to hear it again!

You might remember my hysterical phone call to my mom after he was submitted for EP.  How convenient for us all that the only thing I had to do yesterday was run up the stairs and proclaim the good news!  This is really, truly happening.  As my husband stated in his email to me yesterday..."We will be in Korea in less than a month?  OMG!"  ;)

Yes, there is a possibility that his commander will approve emergency leave for him when we get our travel call.  He would be able to fly to Korea and meet me there.  Fly home with us and then STAY for about a week before going back.  How wonderful would that be?!?  I am trying not to get my hopes up, but I sure am praying that will all work out!

I was a mess yesterday.  I alternated between bursting into tears and not being able to wipe the smile off my face.  I was overwhelmed.  I am overwhelmed.  In a very good way.

Out with a Bang!

C played his last soccer game tonight (for this season anyway).  Their team actually has two more games, but we will be out of town, so tonight was C's last hurrah.  They won 1-0, which brings their grand total to 4 wins, 1 tie, and 1 loss.  They really have improved a lot since the beginning of the season, which I mostly attribute to the week they were coached by some of the dads!  (That was the week C scored a goal in the game!)

I don't think you can see it very well in this picture, but that look of annoyance/disgust on our coach's face is pretty much standard.  As I've mentioned before, they have no kids, and as the season has progressed it's become pretty obvious that they don't even like kids.  Just yesterday at practice C went up to the assistant coach (the wife) and tried to hug her and she was like, "No, no just go over there to the coach."  They came back from their cruise (the week they were gone) and she gushed about how awesome, quiet, and "kid-free" the adult deck was on their ship.   They are also the first to leave after every practice and game.  Many of us parents have long suspected that they signed up to coach just to get "community involvement" points to help their chances of promotion.  I leaned over to my friend during practice last night and asked if she knew that they are Russian linguists with the Navy.  She goes, "That explains it."  Lol! 

The next one I snapped right after he had almost scored.  He must've known we had been cheering for him, check out the smug look he's giving the camera.
